meeting / space visit 16/5/07
* Room G36 would be perfect for the cinema space.
* Mount projector on the ceiling (there has been one mounted there before).
* Project onto the wall furthest away from the doors (east).
* This would require building a screening wall as the existing wall has a radiator on it and a door to a storage cupboard that staff need access to. We propose building a wall 3 meters long, free standing and all the way to the ceiling, approx 70cm out from the existing wall thus allowing access to the storage cupboard behind the new screening wall. This wall doesn’t obstruct any fire exists.
* The other walls in the space we propose to cover in black A0 size cardboard fastened with bluetack.
* The windows in the locked staffroom will need to be blacked out.
* The window nearest the door can be left open for ventilation and orientation for visitors.
We feel that this is the perfect room for the cinema space because of its relatively small size and low ceiling. All other rooms would need to be shared with other students and therefore create sound / light spill into their space.
As we are 5 students we feel that it is reasonable for us to utilise the whole of room G36.
To do:
1. Make diagram
2. Measure height of room for wall
3. Calculate cardboard requirements
4. Calculate wood requirements for wall
5. Do we need to build the wall, or technicians? If we need to build it, ask Tobias the carpenter how do we do this?
6. Confirm that we can mount a projector from the ceiling. Do we need to do this or does it need to be done for health & safety reasons by the technicians?
7. Confirm that we have permission to build a wall
8. Meeting with onliners to keep them informed
